Aluma™ Skin Renewal System is the next generation of skin tightening and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. This is a safe, effective, no-downtime procedure. Aluma™ is a breakthrough approach to treating wrinkles and fine lines. Radio frequency skin tightening is gentle, effective and virtually painless; the skin looks tighter, firmer and more youthful. A treatment typically takes only 15 minutes and patients can immediately return to work and their normal daily activities. The average patient can expect excellent results with a series of 6 treatments 1 week apart.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Does Aluma™ Skin Renewal System Work?
The Aluma system with FACES technology works by creating a controlled volume of heated tissue in the dermis (deeper skin layers). Improving on earlier technology such as Thermage, Aluma's™ technology is truly a breakthrough approach to treatment. The vacuum-assisted and bipolar radio-frequency (RF) handpiece conforms to the skin to allow the energy to safely bypass the epidermis (top layers of the skin) and places the dermis (deeper skin layers) directly in line with the beam of energy. The RF energy is restricted only to the intended target, thus limiting any pain previously associated with skin tightening methods. Energy is deposited deep within the dermis, creating a uniform and contained zone of heating, which results in collagen contraction and renewal with little to no discomfort. In the months following treatment, the body's natural processes result in the generation of new collagen and dermal remodeling. As new, “younger” structured collagen is laid down, the skin looks tighter, firmer and more youthful. A treatment typically takes only 15 minutes and patients can immediately return to work and their normal daily activities.

Who is a candidate for Aluma™ Skin Renewal?
Women and men seeking to improve the appearance of skin which has lost elasticity through the aging process. Areas such as the jowls, the neck, the nasolabial folds as well as wrinkles around the mouth and eyes are only a few examples of areas typically treated with Aluma™. Because the treatment is painless, larger areas are also treated, those include the abdomen, knees, elbows or anywhere your skin has lost elasticity. Because Aluma™ helps you create your own collagen, acne scars and some stretch marks may also improve with multiple treatments.

Patients often combine Aluma™ with a Laser/IPL™ Photofacial for ultimate skin rejuvenation results
A Laser/IPL™ Photofacial is the premier way to reduce visible signs of aging and sun damage such as brown spots, pigmentation and red vessels. Combining a PhotoFacial treatment with Aluma™ treatments helps you achieve ultimate skin rejuvenation results with no down time.

What type of facial wrinkles can be treated with the Aluma™ Skin Renewal System?
In order of increasing depth, the majority of the wrinkles treated include the peri-ocular (crow-feet around the eyes), peri-oral (around the mouth and upper lip), on the forehead, glabella (frown wrinkles) and along the cheeks (smile wrinkles). Aluma™ treatment is best suited for treating fine to moderate facial wrinkles and skin laxity.

Who can be treated?
Aluma™ energy is not affected by skin color, tanning or any other characteristic. Anyone wanting to treat mild to moderate wrinkles and achieve smoother skin can be treated.

What side effects can I expect?
Aluma™ treatment is comfortable. A revolutionary technology called FACES (Functional Aspiration Controlled Electrothermal Stimulation) results in energy deposited deep in the skin without affecting the skin's surface and virtually without pain. Skin is gently drawn into the tip of the handpiece. Energy is delivered resulting in a gentle warming of the deeper layers of the skin. A treatment typically takes about 15 to 30 minutes.

A series of treatments are recommended for best results. Fine lines and skin laxity improve as new collagen is deposited in the dermis. Although some improvement will be seen within a month to a few months, the skin should continue to improve for several months after treatment as new collagen is deposited.
